State lists work for area roads

The following is an updated list of road construction in Luzerne County
from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation:
The north and southbound lanes of Interstate 81 between Dorrance and
Nanticoke are restricted to one lane for seven miles. All traffic has been
switched to the northbound lanes and delays are likely between peak travel
times. The speed limit is reduced to 45 mph through the work area for safety
reasons.

Route 11 will be restricted to one lane in each direction with a common
center turning lane between Swetland Lane in Wyoming and Dennison Avenue in
Forty Fort. Work will continue through the summer and delays are likely during
peak traffic periods.

Two bridges are being replaced on Route 11 at the end of the South Cross
Valley Expressway in Plymouth Township. All traffic is being routed around the
work using the ramps for the South Cross Valley. Traffic signals are being
used and delays are likely through the summer.

Reconstruction is being done at the intersection of Route 315 and Oak
Street. One lane is now closed northbound on 315 at the intersection. Delays
are likely during peak travel times. Oak Street is restricted to one lane in
this area as the bridge over the Interstate 81 is reconstructed.

Interstate 81 will be restricted to one lane southbound between exit 47 and
48 where Oak Street crosses over Interstate 81. Lane restrictions will occur
between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekdays. Restrictions will be in effect between
exit 45 and 47 where Willow Street cross the interstate. Restrictions from the
Willow Street Bridge will alternate on both the north and southbound lanes.
The lanes will not be closed on a daily basis and PennDOT will try to give
ample notice of closures.

Work is being done to replace the existing Shickshinny/Mocanaqua Bridge
over the Susquehanna River. Traffic delays will be minimal, but motorists
should be alert for construction vehicles in the area. Traffic along Route 11
in the area of the bridge will be switched to a temporary road. Delays are
possible as the switch is made on Tuesday, July 29.

Work is being done on South Main Street, Jenkins Township, between Pittston
Tire and Winter Street. Traffic will be restricted to one lane weekdays during
daylight hours. Significant delays are expected between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
