Emissions tests favor unions and the rich
   
The rich are, in effect, exempt from the proposed car emission-testing
program as they drive newer cars, which don’t need expensive repairs. All they
have to do is pay the $17, get their sticker and be on their wayThe poor can
afford only older cars, some of which do not even have catalytic converters,
and hence will have to pay a hefty repair bill to bring their car up to
standards that exempt trucks.
    The gases from the nearby Empire dump are being burned off in flares. The
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has found that waste combustion is the
major souce of low levels of dioxin, which has serious health effects to
humans at even very low levels.
   
The politicians have seen a need for clean air legislation, and I agree
wholeheartedly with them. But exhaust from cars is not the problem. My car is
