It’s trout time in Pennsylvania.
And the state Fish and Boat Commission’s white stocking trucks are already
rolling.
The Fish Commission will liberate more than 2.6 million trout in 780
streams and 110 lakes prior to trout season’s opening hour. The season will
begin at 8 a.m. April 18.
According to the Fish Commission, the preseason stocking will include about
931,010 brown trout, 602,970 brook trout and 835,470 rainbow trout.
An additional 250,000 trout are expected to be released by cooperative
nursery volunteers.
Here is the preseason trout stocking schedule for Luzerne County.
March 17: Nescopeck Creek, 11:45 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 5,900
trout; 2,950 brook and 2,950 brown. Meet at I-80 Exit 39 and Route 309.
March 27: F.E. Walter Dam, 11:45 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 3,300
brook trout. Meet at I-80 Exit 39 and Route 309.
April 1: Lake Took-A-~While, 11:30 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 1,000
trout. Meet at PP&L Riverlands.
April 1: Sutton Creek, 11:30 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 600 trout.
Meet at PP&L Riverlands
April 4: Harveys Creek, 11:30 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 6,400 trout.
Meet at Route 118 one mile east of Fedor Road.
April 8: Pine Creek, 11:15 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 3,300 trout.
Meet at Route 118 and 487, at Red Rock Store.
April 8: Lily Lake, noon. Total pre-season stocking, 6,015 trout; 1,800
brook, 1,200 brown, 3,000 rainbow and 15 trophy golden. Meet at the lake.
April 9: Moon Lake, 11:45 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 3,500 trout. Meet
at the park office.
April 10: Lake Irena, 11:45 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 4,000 brook
trout. Meet at I-80 Exit 39 and Route 309.
April 13: Kitchen Creek, 11:15 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 1,000 trout.
Meet at Route 118 and 487, at Red Rock Store.
April 14: Harveys Lake. 11:30 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 4,000 trout.
Meet at the Fish Commission access.
April 16: Wapwallopen Creek, 11:30 a.m. Total pre-season stocking, 2,200
trout; 1,100 brook and 1,100 brown. Meet at the Nescopeck Custard Stand.
April 17: Lehigh River, noon. Total pre-season stocking, 6,345 trout; 3,150
brook, 3,150 brown and 45 trophy golden. Meet at I-80 Exit 40 and Route 940.
April 17: Wrights Creek, 400 trout; 200 brook and 200 brown.
