A. Paul Kane, 58, of Ledgewood Road in Flanders, N.J., died Wednesday at
    Warren Hospital in Phillipsburg, N.JBorn in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of
Anna D. (Brannigan) Kane, of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Austin P. Kane.
   
He was a 1958 graduate of Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, and
received a bachelor of science degree in accounting from King’s College in
Wilkes-Barre in 1962.
   
He joined the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in 1962, and
retired in 1997 as the New York district inspector general for audit after 25
years of service. He had also been a certified internal auditor and a
certified fraud examiner.
   
He had also served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve for some time.
   
He was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Flanders,
N.J. He had resided in New Jersey since 1964.
   
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his brother,
Thomas F., Sr.
   
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of more than 34 years,
the former Sara Ellen McCue, at home; sons, Paul J., Pohatcong, N.J.; Patrick
J., Malvern; and Sean, Manhattan, New York City; daughter, Aileen Hand,
Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Germany; twin sister, Mary Alice Kane, Washington,
N.J.; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the H. Merritt Hughes
Funeral Home, Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 10
a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in
St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. There will be a
Christian wake service today.
   
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart Association
of Northeastern Pennsylvania in Wilkes-Barre.—–
