BERWICK —Five people were arrested Monday on charges they were manufacturing and selling methamphetamine from a residence on Orange Street.
Police and state police along with the state Office of Attorney General and the Columbia County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 1240 Orange St. allegedly finding methamphetamine being cooked and items used to make the drug.
A 3-year-old girl was inside the residence at the time authorities served the warrant. The child was removed from the residence and examined at Berwick Hospital before being released to a family member.
Authorities said methamphetamine was being cooked inside the child’s bedroom.
Arrested and charged with methamphetamine related charges are: Floyd Walker, 42, Lee Longenberger, 35, Elizabeth Walker, 47, Felicia Cressinger, 20, and Ashley Titman, 27.
HAZLETON — City police reported the following:
• Police said they are investigating two suspicious fires to vehicles on East First Street just after 4 a.m. Tuesday.
A 2003 Ford F150 pickup truck in the area of 128 E. First St. and a 1996 Toyota Camry in the area of 136 E. First St. were on fire just after 4 a.m. City firefighters extinguished the flames to both vehicles.
Damage to the truck was contained to the driver’s side and the interior of the Toyota was damaged by flames, police said.
• A 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van was vandalized when it was parked in the area of 21st Street and Lafayette Court Monday night into Tuesday morning.
PLAINS TWP. — Police said Rosemary Grebeck, of Wilkes-Barre, reported her 2007 Ford Focus was stolen. The car was given to Mohegan Sun Casino valet parking at about 10:18 a.m. Monday. Grebeck noticed her car was missing at 12:35 p.m.
Police said the suspect is a white male, about 40 years old, wearing a grey sweatshirt, gray pants, black sneakers and a black Carhart jacket. He has short, shaved grayish hair.
