BERLIN TWP. — One man died from injuries suffered in a crash late Friday night in Wayne County, state police said.

Charles Gabriel, 62, of Beach Lake, was flown by helicopter to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township where he was pronounced dead, state police said. Gabriel was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.

According to state police: Gabriel was driving a 1988 Ford F150 pickup truck east on state Route 652 at approximately 11:45 p.m. He failed to negotiate a right-hand curve and crossed into the oncoming lane into the path of a 2004 Honda Civic driven by Andrew Steffens, 40, of Honesdale. Steffens and a female juvenile passenger suffered moderate injuries and were flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital. Three other juvenile passenger were taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton with minor injuries. Steffens and his passengers were wearing seat belts.
