PLYMOUTH TWP.- Police thought Kassandra Simonds, 15, would come home for
Christmas- or at least New Year’s.

But the holidays have come and gone and there’s no sign of the West
Nanticoke teen, who disappeared Dec. 16 after a trip to a neighborhood
convenience store.
Plymouth Township police are now asking Kassandra or anyone who might have
seen her to call them with information at 779-5388.

Officer Andrew Hirko said the Greater Nanticoke Area High School student
left home at 6 p.m. and was expected to return by 8 p.m. She was wearing blue
jeans, a yellow shirt and blue jacket and is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 120 pounds
with hazel eyes and blond hair.

Kassandra wanted to take her 6-year-old brother to the convenience store,
but her parents did not allow it. Hirko said Kassandra wouldn’t have asked to
bring her brother along if she was planning to run away.

“We’d just like her to get in touch with us so we at least know she’s OK,”
Hirko said.

Hirko said Kassandra ran away once before, but returned promptly. This
time, her family and police can find no reason why she would run away. They
are unaware of any school or family problems.

“Maybe there was something else going on,” Hirko said, “but we can’t help
her if she’s missing.”

Officers received one tip so far, saying Kassandra was seen at a
Shickshinny trailer park, but had no luck finding her there. Police have
questioned her friends, boyfriend and family without success.

“We’re trying to get as much information about her as we can,” Hirko said.
