Edmund Gorka

    dmund F. Gorka Sr., 80, of Nanticoke, died Monday at Mercy Special Care
Hospital, Nanticoke.
   
Born Dec. 21, 1921, in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Frank and
Veronica “Alice” (Marcinkowski) Gorka. He attended Nanticoke schools. He
worked for the Nanticoke City Housing Authority. He was a U.S. Army veteran of
World War II serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He also served in
the Pennsylvania National Guard Battery B, Nanticoke. He belonged to St. Mary
of Czestochowa Church, American Legion Post 350, Washington Hose Co.,
Nanticoke Fire Department, the Firemen’s Relief Association, and the Six
County Firemen’s Association.
   
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Lillian T. Mickles;
brother, Joseph, and sister, Lillian.
   
Surviving are his son, Edmund F. Jr., Nanticoke; daughter, Bernadette
Nagle, Toronto; five grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Davis-Dinelli Funeral
Home, 170 East Broad St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m.
in St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, Nanticoke with Rev. John Krafchak
officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Nanticoke, with
American Legion Post 350 according military honors.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
