The holidays are right around the corner. In fact, the first night of Hanukkah overlaps with Thanksgiving this year.

And many toys for children require batteries. So load up now.

Rite Aid has Home brand batteries, all sizes, buy-one, get-one free. CVS has its own brand batteries, select sizes and types are also buy-one, get-one free. Buy now and save so you won’t have to pay full price later when they’re needed.

Columbus Day is all about honoring a man who really didn’t discover America, but more important it’s about sales. And the G.H. Bass Outlet at The Crossings Premium Outlets in Tannersville is having a doozy of a shoe sale through Monday. Buy one pair, get two pair of the same or lower price for free. Load up on this one and get shoes for the whole family. It’s what Christopher would have wanted.

Don’t want to travel that far but looking for footwear for the kids at a decent price? Head to Kmart where all Joe Boxer kids footwear is buy-one, get-one free.

I’ve touted online photo gift sites in this column before and have had lots of readers email me asking to make sure whenever those companies offer freebies to make sure I mention it as they love to get them for Christmas gifts. Well Shutterfly is giving away free photo magnets, pay just the taxes and shipping today only.

Go to shutterfly.com and order the magnet and use promo code “FREEMAGNET” when checking out. The offer is good for one free 4×5.5, 3×5, 3×3, or 2×3 magnet.

Don’t forget that today at Burger King you can get a free value size Sattisfries, no purchase necessary.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, stop into participating Dunkin Donuts and donate $1 to the Children’s Miracle Network at Geisinger and get a free medium hot chocolate.

Check out the coupons in today’s Times Leader and you’ll find some good ones, including:

• One for $1 off three boxes of Mrs. T’s pierogies. Take it to Price Chopper where they’re on sale three boxes for $7. You’ll get three boxes for $6 plus get five cents off per gallon of gas at local Sunoco gas stations through the store’s Fuel Advantage Program’s Bonus Fuel Item offer. In fact, check out the back page of the store’s circular for dozens of great bonus fuel item deals.

• CVS has Advil congestion relief (10 packs) or cold and sinus relief (20 packs) on sale for $4.95. Use the $3 off coupon and pay just $1.95.
