George Ashford, Jr., 81, of Wilkes-Barre Township, died Tuesday at Manor
Care Health Services, Kingston.
    Born in Wilkes-Barre Township, September 13, 1922, he was the son of the
late George and Anna (George) Ashford, Sr.
   
He attended Wilkes-Barre Township schools.
   
Prior to his retirement he was employed by the Pervin Dairy and the
Highland Dairy.
   
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
   
He was a member of the Laurel Rum Primitive Methodist Church.
   
Surviving are his wife, the former Bernice Casterline; daughters, Eva
Daubert, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; Carol Hess, Wilkes-Barre; sons, George,
Wilkes-Barre Twp.; James, Wilkes-Barre Twp.; eight grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren.
   
The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 p.m. from the Harold C.
Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, with Rev. George Kropp,
officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Trucksville.
   
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
