Anna Berdy Dutko, 89, of Edwardsville, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart.
Born June 1, 1919 in Edwardsville, she was a daughter of the late John and Androna Sakolik Berdy. Anna was a graduate of Edwardsville High School. She was employed many years at Pomeroy’s Department Store, Dr. David’s Shoe Store, Stride Rite Shoe Store and Burlington Coat Factory.
Living most of her life in Edwardsville, Anna was a member of St John the Baptist Orthodox Church where she served on the church council for many years. She was a member of the Mothers and Daughters club, Fellowship of Orthodox Christians in America, Friends of St Andrew, St Tikhon’s Century Association and Friends of St Tikhon’s.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth Berdy and Helen Berdy Krenitsky.
Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth, Edwardsville, Suzanne, Rutherford, N.J., Audrey, Delaware, Ohio; son, Peter, Hawthorne, N.J.; brother, John, Edwardsville; sister, Mary Berdy Skumanich, Boulder Colo.; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Wayne Woodland Manor and Dr. Davis for their excellent compassionate care, kindness and love given to Anna over the past four and half years.
Also they express their appreciation to St Tikhon’s Monastery community and seminarians for their visitations and prayers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S Main St., Plains, with Requiem Service at 10 a.m. in St John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Edwardsville. Internment in St John R.O. Cemetery, Pringle. Friends may call Friday 4 to 7 p.m. with Parastas at 7, with the Rev. Martin Browne officiating.
The family request that flowers be omitted and memorial gifts in Anna’s memory be made to St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church or St Tikhon’s Monastery-Seminary.
