ORWIGSBURG — Yuengling’s Ice Cream recently announced the addition of four new super-premium ice cream flavors set to hit the shelves in March.

Butter Pecan, Cherry Vanilla Chunk, Cinnamon Churro and Cookies & Cream will join the company’s roster of 14 year-round flavors and two seasonal ice creams.

“Throughout the year we review our customers’ flavor requests, examine trends in the food industry and put our collective heads together to come up with the most delicious new flavors we can imagine, and we’re so excited to add these new flavors to our already popular lineup,” David Yuengling, company president, said in a news release.

The newest flavors were chosen based on customer input and reflect market trends:

• Butter Pecan – A tried-and-true old-fashioned flavor, it combines a creamy butter pecan ice cream with pecan pieces.

• Cherry Vanilla Chunk – Combining three mouth-watering flavors and textures, Cherry Vanilla Chunk mixes cherry vanilla ice cream with cherry chunks and large dark chocolate chips.

• Cinnamon Churro – A food-truck favorite, baked churro pieces and cinnamon are swirled into a rich Madagascar vanilla ice cream.

• Cookies & Cream – A perennial childhood flavor, Cookies & Cream combines vanilla ice cream with old-fashioned dark chocolate cookie pieces.

These new flavors − available in grocery stores beginning in March − will complement Yuengling’s current line of 14 super-premium ice cream flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, Vanilla Fudge Chunk with Pretzels, Root Beer Float, Chocolate Chip, Espresso Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Chocolate Marshmallow, Orange Cream, Original Sea Salt Caramel Swirl, Peanut Butter Cup, Caramel Popcorn and its signature flavor, Black & Tan.

Its two seasonal flavors, Spiced Pumpkin Roll and Peppermint Crunch, also make appearances during the holidays. The new flavors will be available in both quarts and pints; availability will vary by retailer.

The 20 members of Yuengling’s Ice Cream taste-test panel – a group of fans chosen via a contest in 2014 – will be the first to taste the four new flavors after production.

Since its early 2014 launch, Yuengling’s Ice Cream has seen record growth. Initially selling out its first three months’ supply in just two weeks due to high demand, the company surpassed its three-year sales goals in the first year on the market. As it approaches two years since its return to grocery store shelves, national syndicated data confirmed that the brand is up 110 percent in dollar sales over the prior year.

The super-premium ice cream is now available in 22 states from Ohio and West Virginia in the west, to Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont in the east, and Georgia and the Carolinas in the south.

Yuengling’s Ice Cream, based in northeastern Pennsylvania, is a family-owned business dating back to 1920.
