Misericordia set to open show by local artist
   
An exhibit of black and white photographs by Philip A. Dente will open on
    Sunday, November 6 at the MacDonald Art Gallery at College
MisericordiaEntitled “Names and Things,” the show will consist of
approximately 35 photographs and will run through Dec. 9.
   
According to the artist, the photographs present “a rummaging through the
attic of our mind, uncovering hidden and forgotten memories and feelings that
briefly carry us back to other times and places.”
   
In taking the pictures, Dente used a toy camera he bought at a flea market
to create the soft center images of the photos. Each negative had to be
processed individually and printed according to the effect produced by the
camera’s single shutter speed, resulting in the impressions the artist sought.
   
Dente, a resident of West Pittston, holds a master’s degree of fine arts in
photography from Ohio University. His work has been included in numerous shows
in the eastern United States s
