Frank McCreary

    Frank D. McCreary of Bear Creek Township died Saturday at the Community
   
Medical Center, ScrantonBorn in Luzerne, he was the son of the late Thomas
and Elizabeth Wharton McCreary, and was a 1932 graduate of Luzerne High
School.
   
A veteran of World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps 8th Air
Force as a radar technician in the European Theater.
   
He was employed for 45 years by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co.,
where he served as a manager in numerous stores. For several years after his
retirement he worked in Pennsylvania State Liquor Stores.
   
He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, and Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 283, Kingston.
   
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.
   
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, the former Hypatia cq Shukis; sisters,
Betty, Bear Creek Township; Peggy Wilverding, Sewaren, N.J.; several nieces
and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the McLaughlin
Funeral Home, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church.
   
Interment will be in the Lithuanian Independent Cemetery, West Wyoming.
   
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
   
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Northeast
Pennsylvania Chapter, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701-1392.
