    Hazel M. Chapin, 92, formerly of Nescopeck, died Sunday at Berwick Hospital
   
CenterShe resided at the Berwick Retirement Village for two years.
   
Born Nov. 7, 1903, in Nescopeck Township, she was the daughter of the late
Fred and Hattie Readler Hess.
   
She was a 1922 graduate of the former Nescopeck High School and was a 1924
graduate of the former Bloomsburg Normal School.
   
She taught school in Nescopeck in 1925 and 1926. She also assisted her
family in the operation of their farm.
   
She was a member of the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Briggsville.
   
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Chapin, in 1935; sisters,
Maud Smith and Lucretia Gearhart.
   
She and her husband, Robert C., were married on April 10, 1926.
   
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughters, Mrs. Bill (Marie)
Frederick, Sugarloaf; Mrs. Roy (Eva) Potter, Bloomsburg; Mrs. Boone (Freda)
Pague, Nescopeck; sons, Drue and Rudolph “Boots,” both of Nescopeck; 27
grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cleo Hontz, Carlisle; Hilda
Mowery, Nescopeck.
   
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Heller Funeral
Home, Nescopeck, with the Rev. Richard Dennison, pastor of Nescopeck Mount
Zion United Church of Christ, officiating.
   
Interment will be in Pond Hill Cemetery.
   
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
   
Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Mount Zion Lutheran
Church, RD 1, Nescopeck.
