HANOVER TWPScholarship applications available
Graduates of the Hanover Area High School in 1996, planning to attend
college, can obtain applications for the Helen Kloer Phillips Memorial
Scholarship by contacting their senior guidance advisor or a member of the
scholarship selection committee.
The scholarship, awarded annually to a young women is based on academic
achievement, leadership, motivation to succeed in all endeavors and financial
need.
Completed applications must be returned no later than Friday, march 1.
Electrical and
Plumbing test results
Applicants who passed the recent Master and Journeyman Electrical and
Plumbing tests given by Hanover Township Examining Board have been announced.
They are:

Collection notices
Hanover Township residents are advised that garbage collection is back on
schedule.
Also, residents who did not have their recyclables collected last week can
bring them to the Township building between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily. The next
pick up will be held in February.
Gene Lasecki, emergency management coordinator, is asking residents to
remove snow from around storm drains to help prevent flooding.
EXETER
Ambulance meeting
The Exeter Community Ambulance Association will meet on Sunday in the
Association’s Lincoln Street quarters. An administrative work session for
Association members only will be conducted at 7.
New officers of the Association are: Robert C. Turner, president; Ronald J.
Rome, vice president; Thomas Skilonger Jr., secretary and Noel R. Peters Jr.,
treasurer. Turner will preside at the meeting.

PLYMOUTH
GFWC to meet in February
The Plymouth GFWC will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12 at the Plymouth
public library.
Janice Williams, president, will preside.
In other news, the cooking for the annual Valentine’s Day fudge sale will
be conducted from Wednesday, Feb. 7 through Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Plymouth
Christian Church. Starting time for weekdays will be at 6 p.m. and Saturdays
at 9 a.m.
Orders can be placed with any club member and must be received by Thursday,
Feb. 1. Cost is $4 per box.
LAFLIN
Council reorganizes
At the Jan. 2nd meeting of Laflin Borough Council, Elizabeth DeCinti,
William Cooper, Raymond Pendolphi and Mary Slesinski were sworn in as new
council members.
Also, Magdalinski was elected as president of council; Mancini, vice
president; Lorraine Healey, secretary and treasurer; Joseph Flanagan,
solicitor; David Parsnik, chief of police; Charles McKeown, assistant chief;
Thomas Bullaro Sr., code enforcement officer; and John Jenkins as sewage
enforcement officer.

Board of
Commissioners installed
The Newport Township Board of Commissioners were recently sworn in at the
Jan. 2 meeting.
They are Commissioners Faith Whittaker, Joseph Deluca and John Roke. Deluca
was elected president and Paul Noss as vice president.
The following commissioners were appointed as department heads: Noss,
police department; Roke, fire department; John Zyla, code enforcement;
Whittaker, culture and recreation department; and Deluca, public works
department.

Friends of Marian
Library to meet
The Friends of the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library, Mountaintop, will meet
at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 in the community room of the library.
New members are welcome. Membership fees are $5/individual; $10/family and
$25/sponsor.
