Capt. Karen Sue Lewallen and Maj. James Michael DePolo were united in marriage on April 5, 2008, at The Taylor House Inn, Banner Elk, N.C. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Ben Edwards.
Karen was escorted by her uncle, Elary Turbeville.
The bride is the daughter of Leona Lewallen, Thomasville, N.C., and the late Kenneth Lewallen. She is the granddaughter of Bessie Turbeville, Thomasville, N.C.; the late Elary Turbeville; Eva Lewallen, Thomasville, N.C.; and the late Fred Lewallen.
The groom is the son of James and Florence DePolo, Falls. He is the grandson of Florence Bellumori, Laflin; the late Dino Bellumori; and the late Alfred and Clorinda DePolo.
A dinner reception was held after the ceremony at The Taylor House Inn.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the groom at The Taylor House Inn. A wedding reception was held at The Highlands at Newberry Estate on April 19, 2008.
The bride was honored at a bridal shower at The Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre.
Karen is a graduate of East Davidson High School, Thomasville, N.C., and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, with a degree in history and political science. Karen separated from active duty in the U.S. Air Force and is continuing her service as a transitional reservist in the Air Force Reserves. She is pursuing a nursing degree.
“Mike” is a graduate of Regis Jesuit High School, Denver, Colo., and The Citadel, Charleston, S.C., with a degree in business administration. He earned a master’s degree in management from Webster University, St. Louis, Mo. He is a U.S. Army Officer stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
The couple resides at Carolina Lakes, Sanford, N.C.
