CLAIRE TARKETT

    Claire G. Hutson Tarkett, 85, of Honesdale, died Friday at the Wayne
Memorial Hospital.
   
Born Sept. 28, 1912, in Scranton, she was the daughter and last surviving
member of the Leroy and Mary Foster Hutson family.
   
She was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1930.
   
She was a housewife and mother, as well as a bookkeeper for her late
husband’s business, the former Snow’s Service Station, Honesdale.
   
She enjoyed volunteer work and was a life member of the Honesdale High
School PTA.
   
She also volunteered for many years for area blood mobiles, at the American
Red Cross, and as a former Grey Lady at the Wayne Memorial Hospital.
   
She was a member of St. John’s-St. Mary Magdalen’s Parish, Honesdale, and a
former member of its 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration.
   
She was a member of Hose Company No. 1 Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary,
Honesdale, and a former member of the Election Board at the Armory, Honesdale.
   
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell “Snow” Tarkett, on Feb.
24, 1983; and brothers, Carl and Eugene Hutson.
   
Surviving are a son, Leo “Butch” Tarkett, Lake Ariel; daughters, Attorney
Nancy Kanjorski, Nanticoke; Carolyn Burrows, Beech Creek; Claire Ann Rosler,
Amsterdam, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and
nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Hessling Funeral
Home, 428 Main St., Honesdale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in
St. John’s the Evangelist Church, Terrace Street, Honesdale.
