John Joseph Malloy

    ohn Joseph “Joe” Malloy, 81, of North Sprague Avenue, Kingston, died
Wednesday at the Northeast Health and Hospice at Tiffany Manor, Kingston.
   
Born June 30, 1921, in Carbondale, he was a son of the late Francis and
Gretta (Kinney) Malloy. He was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He received the
Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal with three bronze stars and one bronze
arrowhead. He was employed as the operations manager for Keystone Interstate
Vending Co., Philadelphia. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church and its Holy
Name Society, Kingston. He was a member of the American Legion Black Diamond
Post 395 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 283, both in Kingston.
   
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret M. Shields; and
brother, Gerald.
   
Surviving are sons, Kevin F., Kingston; John P., Fairless Hills; four
grandchildren; and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Hugh P. Boyle & Son
Funeral Home, Inc. 333 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a Mass of Christian Burial
at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Chapel, corner of North Loveland Avenue and Hoyt
Street, Kingston. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until
the time of services Saturday.
   
Memorial donations may be made to the Northeast Health and Hospice,
Pittston.
