James McAndrew, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at his home in La Quinta, Calif.
Born in Avoca, on December 1, 1919, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (McDonnell) McAndrew.
He and his wife, Catherine lived in East Haven, Conn., for many years, where he coached Little League. He also owned and operated McAndrew’s Driving Range in Cheshire, Conn.
They also resided in Woodhaven, Conn., before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to retire. Later, they moved to La Quinta to be closer to their family.
While in La Quinta, he managed Alpine Ski and Sports Inc. for his son. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Vincent, Cyril and Edward McAndrew; and sister, Mary McDonnell.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, the former Catherine Devlin, of Pittston; sons, Joseph and his wife, Carol, James Jr. and his wife, Dale; all of California; seven grandchildren, Heather Cullen and her husband Shawn; Robert Cohen and his wife, Christine; Jason Cohen; Sean McAndrew; Brienne McAndrew; Joseph Jr. and his wife, Andrea; and Michelle McAndrew; eight great-grandchildren, with an additional one due in September; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted in California.
