Joseph M. Figlerski, Pennsylvania State Corrections Officers Association (PSCOA), recently received the George Meany Award from the Greater Wilkes-Barre Labor Council during the NEPA Council Boy Scouts of America recognition dinner. The award was established by the National AFL-CIO Executive Council in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America to recognize union members who have made a significant contribution to the youth of their communities by volunteering their time and talents to the Boy Scouts of America programs. Figlerski retired from the Department of Corrections at SCI Dallas after 30 years of service as a member of PSCOA and AFSCME, serving as union steward and trustee. He is affiliated with the Northeast PA Boy Scout Council and the Columbia Montour Boy Scout Council. He serves as charter organization representative for Pack 430 in Glen Lyon and has been recognized for numerous awards over the 23 years he has devoted to scouting. He is a merit badge counselor and climbing and cope instructor.
