YATESVILLE – Coughlin won the two doubles matches against Pittston Area on Friday en route to a 3-2 victory over the Patriots in Wyoming Valley Conference girls tennis action.

The teams of Summer Lentini and Julie Barry, and Sam Popple and Mary Patterson won at doubles for the Crusaders.

The Patriots won two of the three singles matches with wins from Anna Podrasky and Ashley Austin.

Sam Shiner scored two goals as Wyoming Area shut out Lake-Lehman. Serra Degnan also scored, and Kourtny Schwerdtman made four saves.

Biz Eaton notched five service points, three assists and one ace to lead Holy Redeemer to a victory over Wyoming Valley West by scores of 25-21, 25-10, 25-8.

It was the 61st straight Wyoming Valley Conference win for the Royals, who are ranked seventh in the state by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association. Setter Mary Loughran leads the Class 2A state teams in assists, while Allie Griswold ranks fourth in kills per match.

In the match against Valley West, Alyssa Pope had two digs and one service point, and Sara Griffiths had three service points and one dig. Sarah Kasloski notched 11 service points, and Sarena Hall had two service points.

MMI 3, Pittston Area 0

Annika Wessel had 10 kills, nine service points and two aces to lead MMI to a victory over Pittston Area by scores of 25-3, 25-12, 25-18.

Amanda Miller added seven kills, 11 service points and four aces, and Kirsten Young had nine service points and five aces. Alyssa Triano dished out 26 assists.

Destiny Simon led the Patriots with 10 service points and nine digs, and Alison Siomba had four kills, 11 digs and 10 service points. Rachael Bronas pitched in with seven service points and five assists, and Brittney Monahan had eight service points and four digs.

Meyers 3, West Side CTC 0

Senior middle hitter Maddie Lavery notched 10 kills to lead Meyers to a victory over West Side CTC in a match that was played Thursday. The scores were 25-11, 25-12, 25-17. Kristin Shartz added six kills and three aces.

Alicia Blaine led the Titans with seven service points, and Tess Sauer had two kills and 10 service points.

Golf
Crestwood 188, Nanticoke 225

Jake Popowycz scored a 42 as Crestwood defeated Nanticoke on a par-36 course at Edgewood in the Pines. Zach Ciaveralla scored 45, and Scott Lerman shot 49. Doug Mazonkey had 52.

Alex Passetti (50), Justin Lewis (56), Jared Bartusek (58) and Shaun Boyle (61) scored for Nanticoke.
