Irem Ladies plan crafts show

The Irem Ladies will sponsor an Arts, Crafts & Collectibles Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, Sept. 26, at the Irem Country Club Pavilion, Dallas.

In addition to crafts, there will be a light lunch available as well as baked goods and door prizes.

There is ample parking available and the pavilion is handicapped accessible.

Chicken barbeque set

The Noxen Volunteer Fire Company will hold a chicken barbeque from noon to 2 p.m. today, Sept. 26, at the fire hall on Stull Road, Noxen.

Price is $7.50 per dinner. Takeouts will be available.

Sue Hand will conduct walking tours

John Heinz Institute will host Northeastern Pennsylvania artist Sue Hand at an informal “gallery talk” walking tours of her paintings exhibited at the facility, 150 Mundy St., Wilkes-Barre at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1.

Participants may join or depart at any time. The tour is free and open to the general public as well as patients and their families and guests.

Sale planned at Eastern Star

A This and That Sale and a craft and flea market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Dallas Chapter Eastern Star Building Association, Foster Street and Woodlawn Avenue, Dallas.

Eastern Star members will serve lunch, featuring homemade soups, haluski and homemade pie. They will also sell their famous Welsh cookies.

Chicken noodle and vegetable beef soup at $5 a quart can be pre-ordered by calling Pug Berti at 675-7247 or Dianne Corby at 675-4893 by Sept. 27.

All Day Bingo planned

The members of North Moreland Township Volunteer Fire Company of Center Moreland will hold their semi-annual All Day Bingo on Sunday, Oct. 3. Doors open at noon and early birds start at 1:30 p.m.

Dinner and refreshments will be available to all players. Call Jim at 333-4906 to make a reservation.

Zen Meditation program offered

An Introduction to Zen Meditation will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Mercy Center on the campus of Misericordia University.

The program will include a brief description of the method of Zen meditation, a short practiceand time for questions.

Pre-registration is required and a free will offering will be taken.

Alzheimer’s support group will meet

The Dallas Alzheimer’s support group will meet at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, in the chapel at the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 55 W. Center Hill Rd., Dallas

Bingo schedule announced

Bingo is held on every other Monday at the North Moreland Township Volunteer Fire Company hall. The schedule for October is Oct. 8 and Oct. 22.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Early birds start at 6:30 p.m.

All funds raised go directly into the general fund for operating expenses.

Players will perform ‘Godspell’

The “Sweet Charity Players,” under the direction of Warren Shotto, will present “Godspell,” a musical based on the Gospel according to Saint Matthew.

Performance dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 8, 9 and 10 at the King’s College Theatre in Wilkes-Barre. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at St. Therese’s Rectory in Shavertown. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Wine festival planned

The Third Annual Rotary Harvest & Wine Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Lazy Brook Park, Route 6 East of Tunkhannock.

The festival is conducted by the Tunkhannock Rotary Club as its annual charity fund raising event.

Tickets may also be purchased at the gate for $25. Designated driver/under 21 tickets are available for $5.
