Betty Cotter Adonizio, formerly of West Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, October 24, 2010, at the Parker Memorial Home in New Brunswick, N.J.

Born in West Wyoming on October 3, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Bill and Notie Gaughan Cotter. She was a graduate of St. Cecilia’s High School, Exeter. Betty was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Wyoming, and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Her spouse of 59 years, Charles “Chick” Adonizio, died on September 5, 1994. Additionally, she was preceded in death by brothers Joseph, Paul, Leo and Bill Cotter; and sister Alice Connors.

Betty was a homemaker, and she and “Chick” enjoyed traveling around the country with her sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Francis Connors.

Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Kate Adonizio of Pittston; her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jane and Joseph Adochio of New Jersey; six grandchildren, Charles Adonizio Jr., Patrick Adonizio, Kerry Adonizio, Molly Stillarty, Corrie Adochio and Joseph M. Adochio; three great-grandchildren, Michael Adonizio, Nina Stillarty and Ava Adochio; two sisters-in-law, Dorothea Cotter and Helen Wynne Adonizio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the Peter J. Adonizio Funeral Home, 802 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Eighth Street, West Wyoming. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
