The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) recently honored two volunteers with special awards. Mary Lou Postupack received the 2014 Malcolm Brennan Angel Award, which is given to the foster grandparent who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Postupack has been a foster grandparent since 2003 and has served at Arthur Street Elementary School in the Hazleton Area School District for the past 11 years. She serves extra hours, consistently volunteering seven hours per day. Mary Provenzano received the Experience of a Lifetime Award, which was established to recognize those individuals who turn 90 years old while still actively participating in the Foster Grandparent Program. Provenzano celebrated her 95th birthday on July 1 and has served with the Hazleton Head Start Program for more than 26 years. The Foster Grandparent Program is recruiting new members for the back-to-school season. For more information contact Kathy Dwyer or Mary Lou Zerfoss at 570-822-1158 or 1-800-252-1512.
