A student-run hot cocoa stand on the Kingston campus of Wyoming Seminary Upper School has donated its profits to an orphanage and school in Tanzania. For two years senior students Mackenzie Gagliardi, Wilkes-Barre, and Meera Patel, Kingston, managed a hot cocoa stand, Cocoa to Go, which sold hot cocoa with a variety of toppings to students, faculty and staff. The students sold the drinks before classes during the winter months and recently donated the stand’s profits to Pooja Patel, a 2010 Seminary graduate and co-founder and director of the Green Hope Orphanage, Arusha, Tanzania. The orphanage cares for and educates about 35 children who are between three and six years old. The funds will be used for school supplies, food and teachers’ salaries.
