Red Cross plans heroes recognition event

The Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross will honor local heroes in Luzerne County who have performed extraordinary, lifesaving acts of kindness and bravery at the fifth annual Heroes Breakfast on June 12 at East Mountain Inn and Suites. The event will feature a breakfast, reception and award presentations. Cost is $25 per person. Nominations are being accepted for the following categories, fire safety, law enforcement, military, medical, adult Good Samaritan, youth Good Samaritan and animal rescue. Nominees may be individuals or groups and they do not need to be Red Cross volunteers or have Red Cross training. Nominees may be professionally trained or a Good Samaritan.
