The Luzerne/Wyoming chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees (PASR) recently held an awards luncheon at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center, Wilkes-Barre. Grants were awarded to two teachers to help fund special projects for their students. Carol Hiscox, a third-grade teacher in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District, will purchase an indoor greenhouse so her students can plant fruit and vegetable seeds to understand how they grow. Scott Quinn, a middle and high school music teacher at Northwest Area, will use his grant to purchase an interactive software program to help his students monitor their progress when learning or practicing a musical instrument. At the presentation, from left: Wayne Seely, president, PASR; Quinn; Helene Dainowski, educational support chair, PASR; and Hiscox.
