DALLAS: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 474 Yalick Rd. (off Route 118), will host a meeting of the model railroad enthusiast group at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The two-service Sunday schedule resumes on Sunday, Sept 13, with services of Holy Communion at 8:30 and 11:00 a.m.; the Saturday services at 5:30 p.m continues unchanged.

The Sunday School Rally Day event will be held at 9:45 a.m, as well as participation in the annual day of community service “God’s Work. Our Hands” Sunday!

We will be doing a cleanup of Rice Cemetery in Dallas, baking and distributing cookies for the local police and fire departments and nursing facilities, collecting new sneakers for Head Start children, and assisting neighbors with light home repairs.

The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group will meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16. They meet on the third Wednesday of each month and discuss common child-rearing issues that arise when the grandparents are the caregivers. Child care is available by calling 570-675-3859 to register.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP: A training for adults in the Protecting God’s Children program is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, in Exaltation of the Holy Cross church hall, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood, Hanover Township.

If you are an adult employee or volunteer who has direct or routine interaction with children, please participate in this HANOVER TOWNSHIP: Religious education (CCD) will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood, Hanover Township, with class and a special book bag Mass.

Classes are held throughout the school year on Sunday mornings in the church hall. Mass follows class at 10 a.m. There are youth family Masses and other special activities throughout the year.

KINGSTON: There will be a service morning prayer at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, at Grace Episcopal Church, in the Rusty Flack Memorial Garden located on the east side of the church, 30 Butler Street.

The Garden is highlighted by a unique steel cross that was constructed from two of the girders from the World Trade Center.

We will remember the names, faces, and lives of the men, women, and children who were killed 14 years ago, and will seek ways to ensure they are never forgotten.

MOUNTAIN TOP: Mountain Top Baptist Church., 865 Church Rd., 1 mile west of Route 309, across from the Albert Cemetery, announces another year start-up of Kids4Truth Bible Club at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

PITTSTON: A bus pilgrimage to the National Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, is planned for Oct. 5, which is the feast day of St. Faustina Kowalska, the Polish nun whose visions are the basis of Divine Mercy devotions.

The bus will depart from the Oblates of St. Joseph Seminary, 1880 Highway 315, Pittston, at 7 a.m. with expected arrival in Stockbridge at 11 a.m.

The day will include a talk on St. Faustina, Eucharistic adoration, confessions, a rosary for life, Mass, recitation of the divine mercy chaplet, benediction and veneration of first-class relics of St. Faustina. The bus will leave the shrine at 4:45 p.m. and stop at the nearby Michael’s Restaurant for dinner.

Cost of $63 per person includes transportation, entrance to the shrine, dinner and a tip for the bus driver. For reservations call Cathy Mack at 570-654-6063.

SHAVERTOWN: The Shavertown United Methodist Fine Arts Series will present Re-Creation in concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the church, 163 N. Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown.

Re-Creation, “America’s Ambassadors to Hospitalized Veterans” provides the only program of its kind in America. It is a unique, caring, personal touch show that features both traditional and contemporary styles of music with choreography.

SWEET VALLEY: The Sweet Valley Church of Christ, 5439 Main Road, has meetings at 7 p.m. on the third Friday of every month.

A different topic is discussed each month. September’s meeting will host a women’s self defense presentation by Sensi Renee Weiss, master level instructor, American Dojo Karate. Free refreshments will be provided.

Back to church Sunday will be celebrated from 8 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. There will be a special guest speaker, Scott Lyons, pastor.

A free fellowship picnic dinner will follow at noon.
