HAZLETON: The Hazleton Health and Wellness Center, 50 Moisey Drive, is hosting a “Putting the Garden to Bed” program from 6-7 p.m. on Aug. 27 in the lower level of the center.


Sandy Visintainer from the Penn State Master Gardener Speakers Bureau, Penn State Cooperative Extension of Luzerne County, will be the guest speaker. She will discuss fall gardening tasks such as dividing and transplanting perennials, general clean up of beds, preparing new planting beds for spring and planning for next year’s garden.

NANTICOKE: St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 12 E. Kirmar Ave., Alden Station, is holding a summer flea market and rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday in the church hall. Clothing bag hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Outer wear and accessories will be available. Flea market items include glassware and cooking ware.


The church is also making plans for its annual fall festival to be held Oct. 4-5.


WYOMING: The Wyoming Free Library, 358 Wyoming Ave., is hosting its monthly Furry Tales Reading Program at 10 a.m. on Saturday. All children are welcome to come and read to registered therapy dogs. Children may bring a favorite book or use one from the library. This is a Reading Education Assistance Dogs Program which is held the third Saturday of every month.
