ASHLEY: Centenary United Methodist Church, 24 N. Main St., is holding a free ice cream social for children from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday. The event is for potty-trained children to age 12. Pastor Roger Noss and his wife, Colleen, are hosting the event. For more information call 824-6435.

DOYLESTOWN: Polish Women’s Alliance Council 40 is sponsoring a trip to the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa on Aug. 25.

The chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa is an exact replica of the altar in the Shrine of Jasna Gora, a link to the Polish homeland. There is also a statue of Blessed Pope John Paul II and an outdoor prayer area with the Stations of the Cross and the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.

NANTICOKE: St. Faustina Parish, 520 S. Hanover St., is presenting a “Night of Reflection” with Full Armor Band from 6-9 p.m. on Aug. 30. All ages are welcome.

The evening will include adoration with exposition, personal testimonies, praise and worship, prayer ministry and confession. Benediction will begin at 8 p.m. with optional prayer ministry until 9 p.m. Admission is free, but free will offerings will be accepted.

MOUNTAIN TOP: Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 7768 Blue Ridge Trail, will welcome five new members to the church at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday.

The church also houses the food bank for the Wapwallopen Ministerium. It is open Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment. All contacts are confidential. To make an appointment, call 868-5675.

MOUNTAIN TOP: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 316 S. Mountain Blvd., announces the following events.

• The “Book of Faith” Bible study series will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

• Board Game Day will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. A sign-up sheet is located in the narthex.

• The Mountain Top Food Bank is open at the church from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Fridays.

• The Mountain Top Free Clinic utilizes the church from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Mondays. Patients are seen on a first come basis. No appointments are necessary.

• Bible study classes are held at 2 p.m. every Monday.

PLYMOUTH: The Franklin Street Primitive Methodist Church, 181 Franklin St., is holding a Phillies tickets giveaway at a special worship service at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 25. Tickets will be awarded to adults who have entered the contest after the service.

The church is also sponsoring free pony rides and a petting zoo during the Kielbasa Festival on Aug. 24. They will be located behind the Magistrate’s office on Main Street beginning at 10 a.m.

SHICKSHINNY: Raven Creek will perform at the 9 a.m. Sunday worship at Town Hill United Methodist Church, 417 Town Hill Road.

WILKES-BARRE: The Women’s League of Temple Israel is holding its fourth annual Rosh Hashanah Challah and honey gift bag fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will benefit Temple Israel and its religious school.

The gift bags include a kosher Challah bread, apples, honey, candy and honey cake. The cost is $20 per bag. They will be delivered on Sept. 4 in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area in time for the Jewish New Year celebration.
