St. Jude School recently welcomed the members of the 3-Day PreK program into the school community. These 4-year-old students attend school for full days on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. One of their first projects, an apple wreath, was made in honor of the American folk hero Johnny Chapman, better known as Johnny Appleseed, who traveled throughout the country planting apple trees. They learned that apples are grown in all 50 states, and that there are more than 2,500 varieties of apples. The students also enjoyed the story “The Little Red House with No Doors and No Windows and a Star Inside.” Pictures, front, from left: Emily Conway, Celia Stahlnecker, Chase Oravic, Lilah Barrett and Madeline Cappillo; back: Eli Quintos, Eric Strish, James Savner, Isabelle Wasley and Katelyn Sweich. For further information on the 3-Day program, contact the school at 570-474-5803.
