Wyoming Seminary buys former bank building

Wyoming Seminary has purchased the former First Valley Bank building, 228
Wyoming Ave., Kingston, for $310,000 for future use as a performing and
fine arts building”Because of the building’s close proximity to our Kingston
campus, it presented a great opportunity for us,” Seminary President H. Jeremy
Packard said.

The main hall of the 13,584-square-foot building will provide space for
vocal and instrumental concerts as well as a gallery area.

Offices at the rear of the building may serve as departmental offices and
rehearsal space for music and dance programs. Seminary’s performing and fine
arts programs are rapidly outgrowing their current space on the Kingston
campus, school officials said.

The school’s plans are still on the drawing board. Renovation is not
expected to begin for about a year.

The building, constructed in 1926 as the Kingston National Bank, served as
a First Valley and Hanover Bank of Pennsylvania branch office until 1995. As
part of its restructuring of branch offices, Summit Bank closed the office and
put the building up for sale last year.

Mericle Commercial Real Estate Group handled the sale.
