Hoyt sets events for National Library Week
   
Folk music, art show and awards for book contest winners highlights of
celebrationThe Hoyt Library in Kingston is celebrating National Library Week
from Sunday through April 19 with several special events and activities.
    This year’s theme is “Kids Connect at the Library.”
   
Today, there will be a performance by folk singer Rhonda Seeber starting at
2 p.m. in the Lyons Activities Room of the library.
   
Seeber will perform folk songs and stories for both children and their
parents. She accompanies herself on guitar, autoharp, dulcimer and numerous
percussion instruments.
   
Kids and their parents also are invited to a Magic Show at the library
starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Renowned area magician Cozmic Louie will be
performing in the Children’s Annex of the Hoyt Library.
   
On Sunday, everyone is invited to the Hoyt Library for the official
unveiling of this year’s Spring Art Show. The show features works by three
area artists: Dr. Charles B. Reif, John Silic and Jack Trompetter.
   
There will be a reception to meet the artists from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The Spring Art show will run through May 30. It is sponsored by the Hoyt
Library’s Cultural Arts Committee.
   
An awards presentation for the student winners of the 10th annual “Write
and/or Illustrate a Book” contest will be held at 4 p.m. on April 18 in the
Children’s Department of the Hoyt Library.
   
Winners were selected in three grade levels. Winner for grades one to two
was Mark Mizzer; Sarah Rish won for grades three to four; and Susan Ruotolo
was the grades five to six winner.
   
Certificates were awarded to all of the children who entered this contest.
The winning books will be hard-cover bound, with a copy added to the library
and one presented to the student author.
