    Frank W. Coon, formerly of Shavertown, Kingston Township, died Sunday at
   
Wesley Village, Jenkins TownshipBorn in Carverton, Kingston Township, he
was the son of the late Harvey and Cora Hay Coon. He also lived in Courtdale
and Shavertown.
   
He attended Carverton schools.
   
Prior to his retirement in 1970, he was employed for many years as an
operating engineer by the U.S. Government. His projects included work on the
Panama Canal.
   
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Shavertown; International
Union of Operating Engineers Local 77, Washington D.C.; B.P.O.F.E.; Elks Lodge
2283, Laurel, Md.; and Shekinak Royal Arch Chapter 182.
   
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Evelyn Schmoll, and
daughters Edna Birk and Mina Jane Tozier.
   
Surviving are a son Edward H., Rockford, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; numerous
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mina McCracken, Jenkins Township.
   
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Metcalfe & Shaver
Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. The Rev. Peter Kuritz, chaplain
for Hospice St. John, will officiate.
   
Interment will be in Carverton Cemetery, Kingston Township.
   
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
