EDWARDSVILLE: The planning committee for the inaugural Edwardsville Old Home Week celebration will meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Columbia Hose Company, Jackson Street. Insurance costs will be discussed and event sub-committees will be formed. The tentative date for the event is June 16-21, 2014.

EXETER: The West Pittston Library is holding its 140th anniversary celebration from 6-10 p.m. on Nov. 16 at Fox Hill Country Club. Cost is $60 per person and includes dinner, dancing and a two-hour open bar. To make a reservation, call the library at 570-654-9847.


NANTICOKE: Luzerne County Community College is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 2 at the college’s Campus Center.


Information on programs of study and financial aid will be available and tours of the campus will be given.

WILKES-BARRE: The Wilkes-Barre NAACP is hosting its annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Nov. 1 at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Thomas Leary, president of Luzerne County Community College, will be honored at this year’s banquet.
