EDWARDSVILLE: The planning committee for the inaugural Edwardsville Old Home Week celebration will meet at 6 p.m. on Oct. 27 at the Columbia Hose Company, Jackson Street. Insurance costs will be discussed and event sub-committees will be formed. The tentative date for the event is June 16-21, 2014.

WILKES-BARRE: The Wilkes-Barre NAACP is hosting its annual Freedom Fund Banquet on Nov. 1 at the Genetti Hotel and Conference Center. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Thomas Leary, president of Luzerne County Community College, will be honored at this year’s banquet.
