WILKES-BARRE — Police responded to the following reports of public drunkenness:

• Police responded to Spruce and Gilligan streets at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday to assist Wilkes-Barre Fire Department EMS with a man police said was “intoxicated to the degree he was incapable of self care and therefore a danger to himself and an annoyance to those in his vicinity.”

Kenneth Maxwell, 55, of Wilkes-Barre, was taken into custody. A charge of public drunkenness was to be filed with District Court 11-1-01, police said.

• Police responded to the Turkey Hill Minit Market on Hazle Street at 3:47 a.m. Thursday a report of an intoxicated male laying on the floor.

Police said they found Reginald Davis, 41, of Wilkes-Barre, whom they discovered had an active arrest warrant out of Luzerne County. Davis was remanded to the county correctional facility, police said.

• Police said they found Melvin Minkler, 52, of Wilkes-Barre, extremely intoxicated on Sullivan Street at the intersection with Samborne Street at 11 p.m. Wednesday, as he was slurring his words and unable to stand on his own.

Police said Miller was a danger to himself and that he requested medical attention. Wilkes-Barre medics were summoned and transported Minkler to a hospital. He was cited with public drunkenness, police said.

• Police on Wednesday observed Richard J. Hanahan, 49, of Wilkes-Barre, allegedly staggering along North Pennsylvania Avenue near Scheid Street and nearly falling into the roadway at about 8:02 p.m. Wednesday.

Upon speaking with Hanahan, officers determined that he was “intoxicated to the degree he was incapable of self care and therefore a danger to himself,” police said. Hanahan was taken into custody and cited with public drunkenness.
