Amanda Lynn Searfoss and Scott William Poplawski, together with their families, announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dawn and Martin Flaherty, Kingston, and David and Theresa Searfoss, Wilkes-Barre. She is the granddaughter of Josephine Yelland, Wilkes-Barre; Thomas Yelland, Wilkes-Barre; David and Patricia Searfoss, Wilkes-Barre; the late Martin and Dolores Flaherty; and the late Edwin and Irene Height.

The prospective groom is the son of Walter and Pearleen Poplawski, Drums. He is the grandson of Walter Poplawski, Wilkes-Barre; the late Henrietta Poplawski; and the late William and Linda Jagoda.

Amanda is a 2005 graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School and a 2010 graduate of Kutztown University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood and elementary education. Amanda also earned a master’s degree in instructional technology from Misericordia University in 2013. She is employed by the Wilkes-Barre Area School District as a fourth-grade elementary teacher.

Scott is a 2002 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 2006 from King’s College. He is employed as a senior accountant at Snyder & Clemente in Kingston.

The couple will exchange vows on Aug. 1, 2015, at St. Ignatius Church, Kingston.
