    Irene S. Munson of Arbor Road, Lancaster, formerly of Wyoming, died
Wednesday at her homeBorn in Soldier, she was the daughter of the late Robert
and Ellen Riely Sloan.
   
She resided in Wyoming since 1941, moving to Lancaster in 1983.
   
She graduated from Reynoldsville High School, Jefferson County, and Clarion
University and Syracuse University.
   
Before retiring in 1975, she was employed for many years as a special
education teacher by the Luzerne County Intermediate Unit.
   
She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Lancaster; the
Pennsylvania Teachers Association; the Iris Club of Lancaster.
   
She was active in the Girl Scouts, serving as leader of Wyoming Troop 32
for many years. She was also active in the Wyoming Women’s Club.
   
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nels, in 1967.
   
Surviving are daughters, Barbara Benchoff, Fort Belvior, Va.; Beverly
Swift, White Plains, N.Y.; a son, Robert J., with whom she resided; six
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
   
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Metcalfe & Shaver
Funeral Home, Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Rev. Joseph C. Streit,
Chaplain of Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, officiating.
   
Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton.
   
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
