The junior-senior prom was held on Friday night at Genetti’s in
Wilkes-Barre. The night started off with everyone arriving at the ballroom
where the prom was to be held and taking pictures of their friends, as well as
admiring each other’s dresses and getting couple and group photos taken, and
official prom pictures were taken.

Dinner was served at 7 p.m. A buffet table was opened and served foods such
as ziti, chicken, roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and ham.
Salads, dinner rolls and sodas were also served to every table. The dessert,
cherries jubilee, was specially prepared by the staff at Genetti’s Hotel &
Convention Center, Wilkes-Barre, as a demonstration. It seemed like the
cherries in the dessert were on fire.

After dinner students danced the night away with a wide variety of music
played by DJ Bob Loftus. The highlight of the night for most people was the
introduction of the prom court and the crowning of the prom queen and king.
Queen’s court members were: Rebecca Conrad, Jennifer Dress, Chelsea Feldmann,
Ashley James, Korianne Murgallis, Rebecca Popky and Sameerah Woods. King’s
court members were: Andre Broussard, Damian Carbone, John Dombzalski, Arnaud
Feron, Rich Frank, Josh Mason and Jeremiah Mimms. Mason and Feldmann were
elected the 2004 King and Queen, which was based on a vote of the senior
class.

After the prom everyone headed off to after parties and restaurants for
food, and it seemed unanimous that those in attendance enjoyed themselves. We
would like to thank the teachers, the staff of Genetti’s, Bob Loftus, and
Lyons Photography for letting us have a great night, especially the seniors,
who had the prom dedicated to them by the junior class.

Induction ceremonies for the Spanish National Honor Society will be held
today at 10 a.m. in the school auditorium. Students from Spanish 2 classes
will recite a membership pledge and be formally inducted into the society by
signing a membership register and receiving a certificate. Spanish 3 students
will be receiving pins, and Spanish 4 students receive patches. The seniors
will be involved in the ceremony reciting parts in Spanish. A social for the
inductees will be held afterward, and their families are invited.

The Key Club is once again sponsoring Pie the Teacher. Throughout the week,
teachers who have volunteered to participate are given a coffee can to put on
their desk. Students then put money in the can in an attempt to get that
teacher pied, and all the money the teachers collect will go to charity. At an
assembly, the five junior high teachers and the five senior high teachers who
collect the most money are brought on stage. The junior high teacher and
senior high teacher with the most money get a pie in the face, which is always
fun for the students – whether they like the teacher or are hoping to get
revenge. Today and tomorrow are the last days to donate money, so make sure
you donate for laughs as well as a good cause.
