H.E. Jane Barton, 90, formerly of Evergreen Lake Drive, Mountain Top, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at the United Methodist Homes at Wesley Village.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, in 1917, she was a daughter of Edwin G. and Mary Jane Moyer Drum. Jane was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School, graduating in the class of 1935.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church of Mountain Top. Jane was a past worthy matron of the Order of the Eastern Star District 21.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Peter W. Punshan, who died in 1945 during World War II. Her late husband, Harry Barton, passed away in 1975. Also preceding her in death was her stepmother, Helen Stahl Drum; brother William C. Drum.
She is survived by her sister, Alice Drum Jones, of Connecticut; sister Florence Drum Ell, of Pennsylvania; brother Edward Drum, of Delaware; nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 420 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with the Rev. Robert Herrala, Christ United Methodist Church, Mountain Top, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
