Supporters for refurbishing the Water Street Bridge, which crosses the Susquehanna River between Pittston and West Pittston, held a rally and candlelight vigil on Thursday for the bridge. The rally was planned by the NEPA Needs Jobs coalition. The group has said the substructure of the bridge, which carries many vehicles daily, is structurally deficient and the deck and superstructure are borderline deficient. The group has also called for the passage of the American Jobs Act by the U.S. Congress.
