EXETER – Water control was a topic of discussion at Tuesday night’s borough council meeting.

Renee Valenti said her property on the corner of Anthracite and Lehigh streets consistently floods, causing damage to her finished basement. She indicated that council had assisted her with water removal in the past, but that a more permanent solution is needed. She said she would be seeking assistance from Luzerne County and the state.

Council encouraged her to do so.

Council members also indicated they would be repairing pavement in two areas of the borough, both on areas of Susquehanna Avenue. The repair costs will exceed $10,000, so the borough will advertise for bids. Council will award the project contract at its meeting on May 3.

Council failed to pass a motion to regulate and annually license pawn shops and trading of goods by imposing a $350 licensing fee.

The council also announced the borough is maintaining a website, exeterborough.com, which presents pertinent borough information, including council meeting minutes.

Borough council will next meet May 3 at 7 p.m. in the municipal building.
