PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police in Philadelphia say a woman was killed and up to eight other people were injured when they were struck by a driver in a stolen car.

Authorities tell WCAU-TV (http://bit.ly/29TnPE0 ) that a white Toyota being driven through south Philadelphia slammed into a minivan carrying several people and then struck pedestrians. Some were children playing outside. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say the driver sped off and then jumped from the car about a block away. The person was apprehended, but details weren’t immediately available.

Police say a woman taken to the hospital in critical condition later died. There was no information on the conditions of the other victims.
