ERIE, Pa. (AP) — A northwestern Pennsylvania man has been found guilty in the June 2015 slaying of a 58-year-old woman.

The Erie Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/2du6XKa ) 26-year-old Marquice Evans was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit homicide and related offenses in the death of Sherry Lyons.

Authorities say the Erie man and his 19-year-old girlfriend were accused of conspiring to kill Lyons after using her ATM card to steal from her bank account. Prosecutors say DNA matching Evans’ was found in Lyons’ home on a decorative wooden spoon that police believe was used to beat the victim.

Lyons suffocated after her head and face were covered in duct tape in her home.

Evans faces life behind bars when he’s sentenced on Nov. 10.

Evans’ girlfriend also faces trial in the case.
