    Lawrence O. “Red” Foran of East Diamond Avenue, Hazleton, and Hutchinson
   
Island, Fla., died Tuesday in the Hazleton General HospitalBorn in
Hazleton, he was the son of the late Frank and Rose Joseph Foran.
   
He graduated from Hazleton High School in 1933, and served with the U.S.
Army during World War II. He received the Purple Heart.
   
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, and its
Parish Holy Name Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Drake-Wear Post 589
in Hazleton and the Greater Hazleton Senior Citizens.
   
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was a lifetime
member of the 14th Ward Fire Co. He was a past member of the Federation of
Clubs and the Purple Heart.
   
Before retiring, he worked for Meyers IT&T, Hazleton.
   
He and his wife, the former Clara M. Viola, would have celebrated their
55th wedding anniversary on Aug. 9, 1996.
   
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Foran; sisters, Mae Wolfer
and Mary Foran.
   
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Lawrence F., Hazleton; a
daughter-in-law, Dorothy Ann Foran, Hazleton; nieces and nephews.
   
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Frank J. Bonin
Funeral Home Inc., 542 N. Wyoming St., Hazleton, with a Mass of Christian
Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
   
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums, Butler Township.
   
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
