1966 — A rare piece of excavation machinery was used for digging at the construction site for the then-new Abington Heights High School on Noble Road. The Electric Digger used for the job was built to about the length of a football field and only one of 10 in existence at the time.

1970 — Anonymous bomb threats directed at Abington Heights School District initiated a school evacuation.

The first threat came through the central telegraph exchange at the administration building on Grove Street, by a caller who said in a husky voice, “There’s a bomb in the cellar of the school, set to go off in 10 minutes.”

Five minutes later, he or she called again to inform school officials they had five minutes before the bomb would explode. No bombs were found after the evacuation and subsequent early dismissal.

1975 — Coach Paul Scheuch and captains Gary and Mark Conrad led the Abington Heights tennis team to a second-place finish in the first half league competition.

1992 — The Abington Community Library built and opened its new facility in Clarks Summit. Members of the community who helped to build the new library attended an open house March 2. Mary Tuthill, the then-executive director, cut the ribbon, officially opening the building.
