WILKES-BARRE — Luzerne County detectives and the state police Northeast Computer Crime Unit arrested a city man alleging he had images and videos of child pornography on his computer.
Scott Laine Savage, 40, of Stanton Street, was arraigned Friday afternoon before District Judge Rick Cronauer on 150 counts of child pornography, eight counts of dissemination of child pornography and a single count of criminal use of communication facility. He was jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility for lack of $100,000 bail.
Savage kept his head down during the arraignment.
According to the criminal complaint:
Investigators received a tip about a computer registered to Savage’s residence was being used to download and email child pornography.
Police searched the residence Friday morning. They uncovered videos of pre-teen girls — one girl was described as an infant in one video — in sexual positions and performing illicit sexual acts, the complaint says.
Savage allegedly admitted he has viewed child pornography for five to 10 years and used his cell phone to search and download child pornography using specific words.
He also claimed he video taped a young relative, a girl, dancing about a year ago and the girl pulled down her pants and underwear. He denied touching the girl but allegedly admitted he made still images from the video, the complaint says.
Savage said Google terminated his gmail account when he attempted to email eight videos of child pornography, according to the complaint.
Savage may face additional charges as investigators plan to examine his cell phone.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled on Aug. 26.
