PHILADELPHIA — James van Riemsdyk and Danny Briere each scored, and Brian Boucher stopped 34 shots to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils on Saturday.

The NHL-worst Devils lost a day after trading captain Jamie Langenbrunner to Dallas. New Jersey lost its 11th straight road game, one away from tying the team record set in 1983.

Martin Brodeur was benched for the third straight game but replaced an ineffective Johan Hedberg in the first period. Hedberg allowed two quick goals and was yanked.

The win sends Flyers coach Peter Laviolette to the All-Star game as co-coach of one of the teams. Joel Quenneville, coach of the defending Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks, will coach one team. Laviolette and a Western Conference coach will share duties with the other team.

Wild 4, Penguins 0

PITTSBURGH — Jose Theodore made 26 saves for his first shutout of the season and 30th of his NHL career, and Minnesota shut down the Sidney Crosby-less Penguins.

Chuck Kobasew, Martin Havlat, Cal Clutterbuck and Kyle Brodziak scored for the Wild, who are on a season-high, four-game winning streak. Theodore improved to 19-4-3 against Pittsburgh, including 17-1-3 in his past 21 starts.

Crosby missed his second straight game because of a concussion, and the NHL’s leading scorer isn’t expected to play Monday against Boston or Wednesday at Montreal.

Islanders 4, Avalanche 3, OT

DENVER — John Tavares scored the winner 3:52 into overtime and Kevin Poulin stopped 34 shots in his first NHL start, lifting New York to a victory over Colorado.

Jeremy Colliton scored twice and Blake Comeau added a goal as the Islanders won for the fourth time in five games.

Canadiens 3, Bruins 2, OT

MONTREAL — Max Pacioretty scored 3:43 into overtime, completing Montreal’s come-from-behind win over Boston.

Pacioretty put a wrist shot past Tim Thomas into the top left corner and then pushed Bruins captain Zdeno Chara as he skated behind him, touching off a wild scene in the right corner.

Lightning 2, Senators 1

OTTAWA — Martin St. Louis scored a tiebreaking goal in the third period to give Tampa Bay a victory over Ottawa.

Adam Hall added a goal for the Lightning, who got 31 saves from Dwayne Roloson.

Capitals 3, Panthers 2

WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin’s skates left the ice as he scored a goal off a breakaway, and Mike Green and Eric Fehr also contributed two points apiece, helping Washington edge Florida.

Green snapped a 1-1 tie with a power-play goal with 6:52 left in the third period, putting in a backhander off assists from Fehr and Ovechkin. About two minutes later, Ovechkin made it 3-1, taking the puck off the boards, streaking in, and tumbling to his back after scoring his 15th goal.
