The Patriots’ Chris Price went over 200 yards rushing in the win, scoring 3 TDs.

WRIGHT TWP. — Just like last year’s game between Crestwood and Pittston Area, the Patriots prevailed by a single point.
Pittston Area managed to hold off a pesky Comets squad for a 35-34 road win on Friday night.
“We were able to hang in there and win the game,” Pittston Area coach Tony Donato said.
The Patriots, now 2-1, were able to keep the lead until the very end of the third quarter. They rushed for 295 yards with tailback Chris Price picking up 219 yards himself to contribute to the win.
“At the very beginning of the season, we decided we were going to be a running team,” Price said.
Crestwood scored late in the fourth quarter to pull within a point, but couldn’t finish off the comeback.
“I’m proud of them for hanging in there and coming back like they did,” Crestwood coach Greg Myers said.
The Comets trailed 21-7 at halftime but came out of the locker room with a fierceness that wasn’t visible in the opening half. After the Patriots took an interception back for a touchdown to extend the lead to three scores, Crestwood rattled off three straight touchdowns to make it a game.
“We had some bright spots but the bottom line is we didn’t win the game,” Myers said.
Pittston controlled the game in the first half. Price scored three touchdowns while Crestwood squeezed in a 12-yard run by Nick Aigeldinger to get on the board, making the score 21-7 Pittston at halftime.
In the second half Crestwood found its footing and scored four touchdowns.
